Two Meakin Plates Selling together
- The embossed dinner plate is made by Alfrede Meakin with 24 ct gold rim. The slightly rippled rim has a very thick rich gold edge with an intense embossment of flowers and foliage around the brim. In the centre of the plate is a Japanese lake scene with cherry blossoms and loctus on the steep riverbank. In the background you can see city buildings. The colours are very vibrant with reds oranges,, yellows and greens with a hint of brown. It is numbered underneath "61" in blue with "Alfrede Meakin - England" underneath. Condition - very good - excellent vintage condition. Barely any wear and no damage. Measures 22.5 cm in diameter
- The saucer is a J & G Meakin made in 1951 to commemorate a Centenary of their business. Very pretty with yellow and pink daisy like flowers with foliage. Has a slight ripple to the rim with a very slight embossed wave swirling softly and a gold rim with has worn away about 50% remaining. Condition - It has crazing which I think truly adds to the olde worlde charm of the piece. Overall still in good vintage condition with no chips. Measures 14.5 cm diameter
